One problem for a lot of people is having a computer that's on 24/7 to log the stats.

I'm lucky as I have a server tat is always on, and it only draws about 40 - 50 watts, this has been logging my stats 24/7 since my connection went live.
My server draws less than 10w. Nyah, nyah smile

All my PC's are virtually silent, one thing I can't tolerate is a noisy PC. Even my desktop PC which runs at 4Ghz with 2 x 680 Geforce cards is barely audible, until of course I start gaming or transcoding a video, even then it's not loud.

It's very easy these days to make a silent PC, and it needn't cost the earth either.

Nice, but I wanted some processor power, and some space for some hard drives - currently have 7 fitted, with space for 15. Eventually it will be a TV recording server for the whole house, as well as hosting websites, email etc.

I've often wondered if a Raspberry PI could be set up to log the stats, very low power, small size, cheap to buy and it runs Linux, so should be easy for someone to set up who knows what they are doing with Linux.
