Got txt today saying my equipment should be here on Friday. This was the original date before they moved the install, so thats ok.

Does anyone know if you have to use the BT Home Hub? When I moved to BT i was able to decline the Home Hub, but when I upgraded to fibre I had no choice.

I use an Apple Airport Extreme which uses a seperate ethernet adsl modem, so I'm hoping I can just plug the new fibre modem into the AA via ethernet without having to use the home hub.

You can and it works, I did this for a while. You need to set up a PPPoE connection on the Airport Extreme and use these details:

username = [email protected]
password =

leave the password field blank, or put a space if it doesn't like that.

Funnily enough I was search for this last night! I'm going to plug both my modems directly into my Draytek 2920 if I can.

Had a reply from Openreach today.

As suspected there response was:

"The rollout is based on the commercial criteria for each cabinet. Unfortunately when assessed cabinet wwbarn62 did not met these and is not included in the rollout programme. Whilst we monitor cabinet situations, even where numbers have increased there is no guarantee that a cabinet would be reassessed for inclusion in the commercial project. Where cabinets are not included in the commercial rollout Government funding (via BDUK) is available to Borough and County councils to improve fibre coverage and it is worth contacting your Council in relation to this."

So, seems I'll have to wait and see what CDS (Connecting Devon and Somerset) come up with.....

Who's going this week? I'm due next Monday. Had the home hub delivered last Friday. I wont be using it, but am impressed how small it is.
