Re: using own VDSL router (plusnet)

the DSL light on the router just flashes on and off and the status in the interface says initializing but thats it it never syncs its so odd because it used to work so well untill it was unplugged

you're barking up the wrong tree with the PPPoE and IP address stuff

if it isn't in sync none of the above gets the chance to do anything

when you have an upstream and downstream sync speed reported then you can start to worry about the other stuff, if it's still a problem.

Hi, I'm actually using the same router myself - just checked the settings I'm using and will put in any differences:

802.1P priority on mine is set to 0 rather than 2
Auth is set to Auto, though CHAP should work I believe
I also have a static IP but that box isn't ticked
I don't have any DNS servers manually specified but that shouldn't make a difference

All in all, I don't think there's anything there that'd affect the sync, hope it's connecting up and working for you.

EDIT: Also worth pointing out I deleted the existing VDSL connection and created a new one rather than editing what was there, not sure if that'll make a difference but it might be worth a go.

thanks for the reply i also deleted the existing one my self and started again im starting to think it may have just decided to pack in while its not been used (no idea how or why it would do that) But its not even getting a sync any more so as others have mentioned i suppose till that happens im not going to get right far with the rest anyway,

I cant even get a friend to test it for me to rule out weather its gone iffy or weather its just having probs with my line as all my friends within a 25mile radius have cable or mobile BB literally not one of them has ADSL or VDSL lol

Ash

EDIT

currently got it working over the WAN interface by keeping the OR modem although as stated i want to get it working with the built in VDSL modem this wioll at least still give me the functions of the router back i wanted Gbit lan good wifi USB sharing build in SIP support etc

so ill keep trying to get the VDSL bit sorted then i can get rid of the OR modem but at least for now im 1 steap there lol

Perhaps give it a hard reset with a hat pin, assuming it's got a hat pin hole?!

Shame if it has broken. These are very nice devices with a Lantiq VR9 chipset (VRX288 with a SLIC instead of the budget VRX268 in the Openreach ECI).

Turkish Telekom provides the Zyxel P-2812 as CPE. They sell for about £50 on GittiGidiyor (Turkish Ebay) [1]

Though they are apparently well locked down and not yet liberated for alternative use (e.g. with other providers).

Cheers, a

Hi mate ive tried that it makes no diff as i say at the min i have got it working via the WAN port so at least i can use the functions of the router but i defo want it working with the built in VDSL modem to get rid of then need for 2 boxes,

ive now got 4 boxes just for broadband so getting rid of 1 will be nice currently got MODEM > ROUTER > SAMKNOWS > TESTBOX > FON ROUTER lol

But yes they are good routers and will be a big shame if the DSL/VDSL port as packed in im going to get my friend whos with the ISP the router came from to give it a try at his house see if he gets a sync that way ill know if its still working or not then if it works i can try find out why its not working here
