Re: advice on Huawei HG612

Boring, boring smile.

There was an issue with the early HG612s, where many packed in due to overheating when placed horizontally. The solution was to wall-mount, and that is still the preferred installation by Openreach even for the 3B version that replaced it over a year ago.

I don't think there have been any reports of these overheating, however mounted.

In reply to a post by Chrysalis:
seems a design fault to me to require wall mounting for ventilation.
More likely a quality control fault somewhere I suspect, maybe poor component selection. It didn't affect all of them.

My HG612 is one of the old ones and never ran more than warm even when mounted horizontally. I mounted it vertically when the reports of overheating started to crop up, and then it barely managed tepid.

It's running warmer than normal today, but then so am I frown
