The council won't specifically charge for works on streets under Section 58. The test is whether the works are really needed.

They charge under 54,55 and 74 etc just like any other street.

This is recently adopted turf, the 58 is bound to include footway.

I can recall one example where Openreach had to work within the footway whereby it had been full surfaced only a few weeks before. The agreement was that Openreach resurfaced the footway from edge to edge rather than just the trench line where they had worked.

You can also see where there are S58s in force and pending via the www.roadworks.org site - go to Map Layers - Advanced and select the tick box for S58s. It will only show those areas where the data is available but doesn't give the details of the restriction.

You can find out further details from the Highway Authority as the Streetworks register is a Public Register.

Yes - if you see the white markings on the pavement, a line and an arrow pointing inwards, those are the lines between which Openreach will be resurfacing the entire footway.
