Re: FTTC - TT or Plusnet

The 11Mbps I believe is the current Infinity speed, (probably speed test), not an estimate.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 55.8/14.5Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

just as I would expect a non-LLU service via adsl to be worse?
Don't! In the case of FTTC it is even more identical as everything back to ISP's exchange kit is unchanged and controlled by BTOR.

Yes, you are correct, he has an existing service. Given he has such a low speed he's more likely to get problems, so he really should be going with the best support.

I frogot the specifics, but if the OP wished to leave early then PN charge a reduced rate for the remaining contract period.

Are you saying do not switch to Plusnet FTTC if the do not have LLU at my cabinet/exchange?

In reply to a post by RobertoS:
Didn't I cover all this in my earlier post in this thread?

Sorry RobertoS, you probably did, but you saying and me understanding are different! The reason why I am harping on is that before I commit to an 18month contract I want to be sure I have don't switch to someone who, though offering a great service, fails to deliver it (perhaps because realistically they couldn't in the first place.) This is probably why so many people just stick with BT regardless of price.

I want to switch to Plusnet non LLU FTTC or TT LLU FTTC. What I'm trying to find out is would the TT service be inherently better? Or in other words would the non LLU FTTC service provided by Plusnet be inherently inferior due to being a non LLU service?

No, I said don't expect non-LLU to be worse than LLU.

You still don't understand that PN don't do LLU anywhere full-stop. You've already been advised repeatedly how FTTC services differ, or not, between suppliers.

It has already been mentioned but TT does not have a very good reputation for support. PN does. By the tone of your postings you would be much better off with PN.

Plusnet should be able to help/advise you with speeds/stability more adequately than TalkTalk also - 11Mbps throughput (?) would certainly suggest that you a very long way from the cabinet, see connection speeds here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/fibre-broadband.... to check...

Yes I am a very long way from the cabinet, Bt engineer who installed the white BT Openreach modem, as he was installing warned me that he doubted I'd get any usable speed and may just have to settle with ADSL. He was quite surprised I get what I do, which is about double down and up from non fttc. Thats why I've dragged my heals to change provider but the overall gist from everyones help is that with my FTTC I should still get roughly the same speed regardless of provider.

Your connection speed to the exchange with Plusnet and with TT will be identical to your connection speed with BT Retail, because your provider has nothing whatsoever to do with that.

Your throughput speed should be very similar on all three, with in my opinion the greatest risk being with TT. As I said before, maybe in your other thread, that is simply my subjective opinion, but in this thread you asked for objective ones not subjective.

I believe that if you and family are between you doing multiple tasks simultaneously, such as gaming, TV catchup, YouTube, browsing and downloading, PlusNet will give the best overall experience because the traffic management stops gaming and browsing getting swamped by the heavier less time-critical download stuff.
