In reply to a post by Ribble:
is this the connection between the two?

Yes, the copper link cable.
Great news, thanks for the clarification.

If that's your cabinet outside your window then you're in for a nice bit of speed.
Yeah that's why I can't wait!

He's back today, brought his director's chair with him too laugh. He's been there all day as well. Does it usually take this long to connect the copper link or is he doing other stuff too? Also is he going to be the one to connect the power, as the ducts are already in place it just needs a cable and a thumbs up.

Hate to disappoint you, but it took just over 6 months from our cabinets being installed, to them going live.

A bloke from Openreach is under a tent working on the FTTC cabinet today. Any idea what he could be doing?

Morrison Utility Services have installed the power to my cabinet!

How long have you guys on here waited after your cabinet being powered until it went 'live'?

Really? That long? I wonder why that is, Openreach are wasting money on electric bills for dormant cabinets which aren't earning them a penny.

Yep totally agree. They shouldn't powered it up if they knew it won't be going LIVE in the next 2 years. Waste of energy electric bill.

Well I received an email from the BDUK scheme co-ordinator type person which said...
Dear xxx,

The outstanding dependency is on the upgrade to the Head-end Exchange at Downham Market which is expected to be completed before end March 2014, sorry cant be more precise.

Regards

Karen
Which is fair enough... Openreach never know when anything will happen anyway.

Pretty good news though, not long to wait really compared to how long I have waited so far and, at least, one can hope that's a conservative estimate wink.
