One of the extensions had been extended by a foot and the quality of cable was poor. I have replaced this and was connected at 40/10, although this dropped over night to 38/8.5. The only problem i have now is when connected by ethernet i get the max speed (35/7), but when using wifi is runs at 15/7. I will have to work out what is causing the interference, as it is next to my sky box, lamp etc. Another job for this evening!!

The reason is i want the wifi at the back of the house. Walls are concrete so the wifi coverage drops. I have tried powerline adapters, but for some reason, they will not work on my ring main on the back of the house.

Check the wireless link speed, 802.11g at 54M maxes out around 20 Mbits/s of useful throughput and all wifi standards drop to lower speeds as signal strength declines.
