Again, thank you guys for the feedback. Just for the record the Home Hub is being replaced with a 2830Vn and the idea is to pre-configure as much as possible so that down time is to an absolute minimum.
On my RT-N66U I use
[email protected] and a space as the password, as it doesn't let me leave it blank.
The Sure Signal device has had many incarnations and its probable that the latest version http://www.vodafone.co.uk/our-network-and-coverage/w... has truly become "plug and play", we shall see. Seems odd that selective ports don't need to be opened for this service. Charging £100 for the hardware seems particular excessive and it will be going back if it doesn't do what it says on the tin.
I had a suresignal here for 6 weeks, when I was using a draytek 2820vn. You MIGHT have to disable the Draytek's own IPSEC VPN feature, and allow IPsec passthru before the suresignal will work. Not many routers do IPSEC VPN but the SureSignal makes an IPSEC VPN connection to Vodafone.
The suggested MTU by 'bubblebot' is 1492, so I seem to have all the elements for a smooth transition from one router to another.
That is the default MTU for most systems, and the default on the Draytek when in PPPoE mode, and on the ASUS RT-N66U when in PPPoE mode.
