I presume you are not using three.
three only operate at 3g. (well some 4g but they only started upgrading a few weeks ago.)

There are plenty of areas where 3, like other mobile companies has poor coverage.

While notionally in their3G area, in reality, the signal is poor in our house, going by a friend who regularly visits) ditto EE who I was with previously. The only one that seems to be reliably any good is O2, and even then 3G speeds aren't that great in our house.

And it's be quite a few moons before 4G makes it here. The idea that most people will be ditching their landlines is pretty laughable (for reasons already pointed out)

I have tried contacting OpenReach on this but they replied I should contact BDUK. In fact I am so fed up I wish I could talk to some other firm but I know nothing.

Rento --you need to check with BDUK if you are in their intervention are and it you are expecting to be covered -if you are then thats the place for you - if that is a no or no beneift -- then use the FAQ's on openreach website (there a set process to this which is why they directed to you to check with bDUK
