Also to mention, Sky hasnt been the best for pings the max about a month ago was about 19ms = 28ms so is not been all that low.

i really do think its down to bt's routing, i think im just going to go over to plusnet, from forums and reviews the general view is they are very good. so even if its no improvement at all, then ill still be saving money as its cheaper.

Did you delete the old ping ? To stop some other person getting a ping every second and wondering what is going on .

Cheaper isnt always the best but again look at Sky just gos to show, Maybe the exchange im connected to has a big capacity maybe 80Gbps? Also bare in mind that Sky dosnt do Wholesale and Business unless they taken O2 Wholesale too?

yes, cheapers not always best but im just finding it hard to find out who may have the better network for my area and who manages their network routing better between sky and plusnet.

This is a hosted server on a big connection in a data centre, but for £2k a month you can have similar results at home

You are aware that that server is based in the US and probably not on the east coast either, so would be a poor choice as a gaming server due to the Atlantic

Hi I may be able to help as a pro gamer myself I make my living from it a lot depends on your hardware at home as well as your connection a good solid router is a must and a good network card and up to date drivers.

Personally I use virgin media 150 meg at the moment gives me good pings consistently I got virgin to lay a thicker cable from cabinet to my house which helped and a separate cable for my virgin tv so there totally separate and doesn't affect web

I mainly play fast fps games like cs cod as well as a few real time strats but rts typically doesn't need a good ping just a stable one but As you know fps games need a nice low one I typically get pings of 9-12 playing on uk servers.

Firstly I would check your home equipment.
Go wired
Update network drivers
Update chipset etc on PC (it helps trust me)
Update modem but keep a backup and get a decent router that won't give up on you

So to me, It looks like BT's routing what is overcrowded, From 6th to 12th look so heavy but then if you look back on week 14 there bit of pocket lost but not as overloaded
