You don't say where you are in the country (I think) but I used to get a very similar route to that when I was with BT FTTC in south-west London. My first hop was 5ms, but I was getting 20-22ms to bbc.co.uk as I think my traffic was going via Sheffield (the sf.21cn-ipp hop 8) - which yours also seems to have.
If Sheffield isn't too far out of the way for you on the way to London then it probably won't make much difference, but as I was about 9 miles from Telecity and getting routed to Sheffield and back it increased my ping by a factor of 3 to 4 and irritated me from a this-doesn't-make-any-sense POV.
