Once the 9 months is up it would be very easy to add phone line to your existing plan. You'd potentially be able to renegotiate your current contract as well to get a better deal.

In reply to a post by RobertoS:

I know people who have done this - but I also know people whom have lost their phone number in the transfer.

I believe Ofcom requires all fixed line telcos to offer the ability to port numbers.

James BT Infinity 2 19/09/2012 - Sold 42/6, Now 52/9, Sync @ 55 / 9.5 Mbps @ 470m approx
19/5/2014 - just ordered PlusNet Unlimited Fibre - awaiting activation date

Certainly can. My dad was a longtime BT customer then got Virgin several years ago for the better broadband speeds. He moved last year to an area Virgin couldn't serve and went back to BT. Kept the same number throughout.

Yes of course smile

Think it's probably worth noting what James said as well. Though I've never experienced this I have no doubt this has happened to many people. Virgin and BT aren't known for their brilliant customer service and I could easily imagine Virgin losing the phone number to the ether.
