given he is way below his estimate I think is a fair chance a 2nd line be faster, but of course its a gamble that might not pay off.

on the point ignition made I think the 2/4 pair cables are just the dropwire so the pair wouldn't necessarily be next to the existing pair all the way back to the cabinet (I think, definitely not sure).

I had a second line put in (not related to slow speeds) - but when they came to put it in - they couldn't find the second line.

So, they ended up digging up the road and recabling (I didn't get charged for any of this) and low and behold - both broadband lines jumped in speed.

Not unless you can guarantee the line takes a different route on a different cable to a different card etc.

A 2nd line is an expensive gamble, and there is no obligation to provide anything above (I believe) 128kbit over xDSL.

I have sites with many lines and they all have the same (poor) xDSL speeds, only bigger sites with EO main cables I can see a difference of 1 or 2mbit sync between the different main cables, but that also takes into account where those cables are on the MDF at the exchange and how long the tie pairs are to the MSAN.

Yes the USO for dial/data is still 28k but I have a vague recollection that *if* BT decide to provision you with xDSL I think the minimum profile of 128k is all the DSLAM/MSAN will allow.

But that does not change the USO in any way
