At my place in Scotland, a large proportion of the lines are EO - some way out of te village have cabinets that serve maybe 10 houses. We have ADSL Max so only up to 8Mbps, ADSL2+ has totally missed the village. Probably over 90% of lines are within 500m of the exchange so most do get near 8 Mbps.

At least the Exchange is now showing as ES - Exploring Solutions.

Was it showing as UE: Under Evaluation... If so I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything soon

It will be interesting to see what solution is chosen for the village in Wiltshire where my sister lives. The entire village, about 50 properties, is on EO line connected to the exchange which is, as far as I can tell, about 2km away by road. ADSL2+ has also bypassed the village. The BT wholesale checker suggests speed of between 4 and 6 Mbps but no one seems to get more than 1.5 - 2 Mbps.

The village is definitely covered by the next phase of the Wiltshire BDUK project starting next year.

@mlmclaren:

I have discussed this with MrSaffron and although just as likely as not, given the relatively small number of properties my exchange serves, the nearest exchange up the road serves even fewer properties and has been enabled. Or so it would seem...

The exchanges mentioned are around 1.5 miles away from the my cab and 100 metres from the other cab (my exchange). Where as the enabled, smaller exchange that's taking orders is 3 miles away from my cab (by road) and 4.5 miles away from the other cab in my exchange area.
And bear in mind they'd need to dig up and lay 4.5 miles (or more) of ducting for the latter where you'd hope the 'my' exchange would have (clear) ducting in place.

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
To say you are NEVER going to get it because you have Exchange Only is wrong.

The timescale is unknown, certainly some EO is getting improvements and some even getting FTTP.

I did reply to this but it didnt work or went missing in the internet dark zone.

Im just being realistic. FTTP is no good for my distance without the customer (me) paying thousands.

They dont know what they are doing, simple as that. So never is a fair estimate. I will be a lost statistic with them using 4G (even though we rarely get decen 3G coverage) as next gen broadband coverage done.

Just a shame they cant come clean about it all. Smoke and mirrors.

Still I am more fortunate than my neighbours who are less than 2mb.

The honest answer is that no-one has promised 100% will get superfast yet. EU has a target of 100% with access to 30 Mbps by 2020, but you already have access to 25 Mbps via satellite and likely EU will tick that box again.

Would be nice to see openreach speaking up honesty.

I enquired to the folks in the know (have quoted them elsewhere) they say east ayrshire is commited to 100% coverage blah blah. We get 4G shortly that should tick their box. It really is poor the way they word it all. I asked about satelite and there is no grants or help funding available, that aside 25Mbps isnt gaurenteed thats the best hope ever on a good day. I feel sorry for those across the street from me with speeds like 1mbs.

The pole is in my garden too its like a monolith reminder lol smile
