Sky ADSL router

I have ordered fibre broadband off of sky as my FTTC cab has gone live.

The cabs obviously use VDSL technology but are the DSLAMs backwards compatible with ADSL2+?

The reason for my question is I was told my line would switch over tomorrow but I won't have the new sky hub for at least a week. Will my adsl carry on working at the lower speed until I connect the DSL modem? Or will the broadband go off?

Or does your line also stay connected to the adsl DSLAM in the exchange?

For FTTC the DSLAM is in the cabinet. For ADSL2+ the DSLAM is in the exchange. And no, the DSLAM in the cabinet is VDSL2 only.

I think the ADSL2+ from the exchange is switched off when the line is moved over to VDSL2, but I may be wrong.

I presume the filters in cabinet will stop the exchange dsl once the line is connected through at the PCP

IIRC that's what Zarjaz said a year or so ago .

Correct, person will end up with no broadband until a VDSL2 capable device arrives. Sky are normally pretty fast with the dispatch though.

Nothing faint about it at all . Just unsure of my memory. Ribble did say "I presume", whereas I meant to imply you had stated it as fact.

Drop Sky a call explaining the situation. They may be able to post the router 24 hour delivery (they did once for me). I think it's all about getting lucky and speaking to a good representative though.

ADSL will not work though...
