Well I filled out the form and got a reply.

Shame its total nonsense and doesn't even take account of anything that's going on, i.e. "Sorry, you are not in a commercially viable area " when there is a new PCP and FTTC twin being installed outside my house.....

Still useless. The map doesn't correspond to the spreadsheets. My exchange is marked as PA on the map, but is in the "Coming Soon" spreadsheets, with a date of Dec 14.

Oh, and there are a couple of FTTC cabs that have just been installed. Still waiting for mine to be done though...

As I am on an long EO line it tells me nothing that I don't already know.

What really annoys me though is there is a BT openreach engineer living about 20 yards from me who has an FTTC connection. He has the same postcode as me and is the only one in the street that has this all the others are EO lines so it doesn't seem fair to me

The answer for an exchange can be different to the answer for a specific cabinet because of the way cabinets can be fed their fibre from another exchange area for one.

The "Where and When" is giving a questionmark as the response and suggesting checking with providers.

Interestingly if I check my postcode or number (not yet enabled and EO, but cabinets due to be installed this month) or any postcode of number (that is enabled via a cabinet) in the town on BT.com's website it claims no Infinity available yet, and suggests using the postcode checker on the Where and When website. Even for postcodes/numbers that I know can get FTTC, have since signed up and been enabled, and are showing as being able to order on other ISP checkers and the BT Wholesale checker.

Seems a bit daft one BT site points people to the providers to check, and the big name ISP people are likely to check with points them back at the rollout site to use that same checker...
