Re: Where and when - updated

One thing I've noticed, when checking the status for friends, is that the exchange info is still there, but the cabinet info is now missing.
It used to tell me that 'Cabinet 7 is not currently...' or whatever, now the only info is the exchange. That is flagged as CS, as it has been for a year now, and happily tells me it will (might?) be connected in the next six months, with Sept 30th as the proposed date. We've watched that date jump up 3 months at a time.
There is a new cabinet, I've seen it for myself, and power has been connected at the beginning of June. My friends moved home just 4 miles from a 16/6 connection to get 1.2/0.3 and a promise that fibre was on it's way...

@jjgreenwood

Are there any cabinets there?

Looks to be an all new build area so might lack cabinets (PCP's) and therefore BT can't do it until they do FTTdp or FTTH.

The exchange info is now modified by your own cabinet status, so if it is enabled it will be AO (assuming not full), if it is in build you'll get the message you had, and also if not planned a different message. If the postcode is served by more than one cabinet it will point you to a CP address checker to enable the serving cabinet to be determined.

Mildly excited that my Cabinet is Under Review - the general area is fine for fibre so my problem is capacity, as BT chose to install a small cabinet 50-60 years ago when phone lines were first installed. So we now have to live with their ancient decision.

Does anyone have any knowledge of a small cabinets being fibre enabled in the past?

(Small Cab)

Current on Zen, getting 4876 down - 744 up
Exchange is Fibre enabled, street cab not economically viable to upgrade.
Could get V*rgin, but I'd rather not.

Is it possible that's just an SCP? I see you wrote previously that there's a few hundred people on your cabinet and that box seems a little small. But I could be wrong. It makes little difference to FTTC (the fibre cab is put next to the PCP, but it supplies customers on an SCP just fine if they aren't too far away) though.

Not sure what a SCP is, but it's not the only small cab in our area. Cab 49 is a similar size (link) and not too far from cab 50 and seems to serve a similar amount of properties.

Do you think that small cab is similar in size to this one: http://goo.gl/VxhG5d - obviously yours is an older design, but size possibly similar?

Biggin Lane junction of Bury Road, Ramsey - went live with a fibre twin a week or two back.

Interesting to see difference in that area compared to here. My area looks to be more populated, however Ramsey looks to be more affluent than Yardley (based on house sizes) so that might explain why they got upgraded!
