Re: New capacity / 2nd cabinet dates - placeholders?

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

This was accurate. The date on the availability checker was pushed back to 20th August, there are no streetworks on the register for a second cabinet to be constructed so it seems fair to presume that's also a placeholder and another date will appear on there in a couple of days.

The cabinet itself is planned, it's STREET SIDE DSLAM CAB NMCOZU and will set alongside NMCEQI. No markings on the pavement just yet either so presumably it's still a little way away or they'll be able to reuse bits from the original build when standing the second one.

I susspect the availability date may reflect an attempt to bring into service existing 'faulty ports' rather than the installation of the additional cabinet

I strongly suspect your suspicions are right, ports have become available.

They won't stay available for long however - someone has already informed the local community that the cabinet is available again.

Don't think cab was due to be stood until September, could be done sooner though.

Or later. Still no street works for this.

Apparently planning will be complicated and it'll be expensive to build.

Should've used the ducting, it was built with everything bar the microduct, and deployed FTTP to deal with the demand. Appreciate it's only Leeds, not Milton Keynes, but still probably easier build than some and certainly not all that much more expensive than 2 x FTTC cabinets at 'allegedly' £100k each.

simon it will be full -- know thins one Well !!!!

Indeed. So, I wonder if there's any chance of another cabinet so that people around here can give their ISPs more money which in turn flows to Openreach?

Joys of being the only game in town - really no need to rush.

I know things happen but I actually told Openreach in 2013 that the first cabinet would fill rapidly and I'd be amazed if it weren't full by the end of the school year. I think the response was initially shock when the first 48 ports lasted less than a day, the next 48 about the same and I was told that 4 cards would be enough.

I wasn't blowing sunshine up anyone's [censored] or bigging myself and the community here up.

All been a bit of a mess before, during and after the process. From before it was on the rollout list to now it's full this has been a pain in the backside. I seriously hope the other tens of thousands were smoother.

Work in progress

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Closing this off, had a conversation with 'someone' in BT over a vaguely related matter early this month and he said he'd chase this up as an aside.

(PCP82), NGA RELATED WORKS, (PCP82) 430980,427759 SIDE OF 34 WAGGON ROAD ST GEORGES ROAD LEEDS WEST YORKSHIRE LS10 4GT

Description:
Install 2m of 1 way poly duct in Footway,Provide 1 Provide/Recover 1 NGA Cab and base (1.5m x 0.5m)
Start Date: 11/12/2014
End Date: 19/12/2014

Presume another Huawei 288 going in which probably makes sense, still nearly 400 lines on the PCP that don't have FTTC on them. Fortunate that it was all planned and BDUK SFWY project is still ongoing so crews are in the general area.
