Cheers mate thanks for that at the moment I can't see any reason for buying a new router unless somebody tells me otherwise.

Thank you.

p.s. why do the web site links say false but still work ?
Because you have inserted the text "]false[" in the URL statement.

Just one thing puzzling me smile.

Your router must have come with its own power supply/lead. Fair enough, you haven't been using that as you used the combined modem and power supply.

Surely on FTTC you would be best putting the combo unit aside and using the router's own power supply?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

The AC1200 is a router, and the ADSL2+ modem is hidden in the power supply. There is no separate power supply shipped with it.

You can power the router without using the modem part, just looks a little odd with the spare Ethernet lead hanging there.

I had been looking at the Belkin AC 1200 DB, ignoring the product number which is for the router plus the modem/power combo smile.

Well the engineer came and fitted the new baseplate and supplied a BT Openreach modem unfortunately the Belkin will not work with fibre which was always a possibility.

Frustrating to say the least when he told me I was getting a 57mb download speed.

Shall I get a new fibre router to work with the modem or would people suggest a new fibre modem/router ?

A router with Ethernet WAN port would be the answer.

Curious to know what the problem in the configuration process was with your Belkin. No support for PPPoE session over the Ethernet connection?
