A router with Ethernet WAN port would be the answer.

Curious to know what the problem in the configuration process was with your Belkin. No support for PPPoE session over the Ethernet connection?

Unfortunately I'm not sure what you're talking about as I'm somewhat a novice in this area.

It has PPPOE and a wan port but otherwise I'm in the dark.
I can alter various settings on the router set-up page but not sure which ones.

If you don't mind losing some settings (or write them down) then I'd try a factory reset and start from scratch going through its setup wizard.

It should work on BT infinity to be honest. I think the issue is the username and password being entered perhaps?

Certainly on websites it is sold it shows it as compatible with infinity.
http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/products/14024-belki...
At the bottom it says:

"A Broadband Wireless AC Router can also be used with Fibre Broadband via an Openreach/Fibre Modem. With it's fast WAN throughput and advanced 802.11ac Wireless speeds it's perfect for Fibre Broadband such as BT Infinity. If Fibre Broadband is unavailable in your area and you have an ADSL connection, then you will need an ADSL Wireless AC Router instead."

Have you tried upgrading the firmware here:

He's not getting BT Infinity wink. Plus, on that the username and password are standard anyway.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Sorry I am saying if it works with infinity it will work on zen fibre.

The router for whatever reason causes some issues for BT infinity customers as it required both a username and password during setup and BT generally advise neither is required. I haven't seen anybody on forums successfully come back and say it's working now. Even after entering generic usernames such as [email protected] as advised to try.... There's one forum where everything went quiet after a firmware upgrade (hence that suggestion). I have a feeling that although it should technically work in practice its caused issues.

I typed this on iPhone pardon any spelling errors etc

Thanks for replying,I am on holiday at the moment and can't try anything re settings etc.

A firmware upgrade is not available, I tried that, I have tried to set it up whilst connected to the Openreach modem with the original Belkin set-up disc it goes so far and just stops saying it can not connect.

I don't get to the point of putting in my user name and password.

If I ever get to the user name point on the Belkin set up are you saying I should use a BT user/password login as I don't have one anyway.

No, he's saying that on BT Infinity it doesn't matter what you put in, but the norm is [email protected] (or similar) with a blank password, or password or whatever.

You would need your proper username and password for Zen.

Ok thanks, I think I will end up buying a new router in the end.
