In reply to a post by MHC:
It refers to a line re-train, so a modem disconnect, wait, power cycle and reconnect should be enough.

It seems to depend very much on how quickly an ISP's sytems react.

The HG612 usually resyncs in less than 20 seconds.

However, the IP Profile/BRAS rate is only ever updated when there has also been a PPP refresh.
That seems to be controlled by the ROUTER and/or the ISP.

I have quite a bit of evidence from my own & various other users' connections that they have ended up stuck on too high or too low an IP Profile/BRAS rate when their ISP's timers are out of sync.

Each time, disconnecting & reconnecting via the ROUTER has forced a new PPP session & the IP Profile, BRAS rate (& IP Address have been refreshed for those not using fixed IP Addresses).

Yes, tried a software disconnect, as well as hardware. Left it for minutes and tens of minutes last time.

Perhaps you have a stuck profile?

Plusnet have a few times in the past diagnosed an "imbalance" in the BT Wholesale system, whereby the IP Profile reported by the BT Wholesale Performance Test appears correct for the sync, but another copy of it seems to be held elsewhere as well and does the actual throughput limiting. I am not talking about the Plusnet copy of the IP Profile - in these cases that was in accord with the observed IP profile.

I wonder if that same location still sees you as a 10Mbps upstream product, even though the reported IP Profile is the expected 20Mbps?

Having the observed IP Profile correct didn't sort it out.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
