I'm not sure which is the latest unlocked firmware, but the people who know are here nearly every day. I did mine years ago but I've got an older version of unlocking so can't see the GUI any more. Just get stats and set things through telnet, which isn't the best way for this job.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

I originally tried using a billion 7402nx which was a previous flagship, quickly found out it maxed out at 40mbit/sec.

You can try the cable router, no harm in doing so, but dont be surprised that if its very old it wont max out.
