Re: Openreach Modem

My post about getting stats overlapped. I didn't suggest that as I didn't expect a computer with two Ethernet ports.

Is that going to work, even with his two Ethernet ports on his computer?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Ah ok. I have to buy another ethernet cable.Lucky my pc had dual lan ports (one spare)
You must already have two Ethernet cables, unless you were running wirelessly connected to the router!

Edit - or were you using a Home Hub with built-in modem?

I found a spare ethernet cable in the box. 15 metre long. Yes, it working but I have to disabled ethernet lan port 1 while ethernet lan port 2 can access to openreach modem stats. Then enabled ethernet lan port 2 as it say on network and sharing center "multipie networks" it now working both, FTTC standalone and Openreach Modem Stats.

Thanks guys.

Question is: the pc shutdown mean plusnet connection log will be lost - will that concern to DLM hit or Plusnet fault team might see lots of disconnected every days like plusnet connection logs etc when the pc showdown overnight.

@ RobertoS I don't have BT Home Hub 5 anymore, It sold on ebay ages ago. Don't like BT Badge on it.

DLM will be fine as the modem will remain in synch.

The only connection that affects the DLM is the modem.

If you did a Factory Reset on that, that would be a single reconnection. Not a problem.

Thanks but I think Plusnet team should check modem sync not connection logs as a fault. They sometimes telling plusnet customers on the member forum "Ah, you have lots of disconnections on the connection logs , there is a fault on your line" That's RUBBISH. Because the modem stay sync for ages!

I think they are able to tell the difference between a modem disconnection and a PPP session disconnection.

That suggests that both ports on the computer are getting configured with the same IP network address, so that the routing table gets confused.

The command "ipconfig /all" should tell us if this has happened.

Changing one address on the PC should allow you to connect to both networks at the same time, but I don't know whether the modem can cope with that.
