New House FTTP

Hi everyone,

Hoping to move into a new build home soon and I have been told that there is FTTP by BT to all properties. My questions, in case you can help:

1. Does this mean no normal phone line?
2. Am I limited to expensive broadband? At present I have Sky Unlimited which is cheap, but do I need to use a fibre provider?
3. Is there anything else I should knwo about FTTP?

If you a copper line installed it will only support adsl2+

100% sure it is fttp and not a case of getting excited by availability of fttc? And also is via openreach as some new builds have fttp via another network

There is no need for copper but bt retail the main fttp seller may want you to take a voice over fibre service.

Price rise standard bt consumer pricing but no sky or talktalk as they choose not to sell gea fttp

Thanks for the reply it is definitely fttp not fttc and is Openreach. i think the key thing is that you have to use a specialist provider and cannot use a normal broadband provider so i guess it may be bt 4 me. Thanks

For average consumer that is the option currently.

If you've not already signed up for FTTP via BT, you may be interested to know that you can get FTTP a cheaper way as the PlusNet FTTP Trial has now been re-opened to existing customers (in other words you would need to sign up for ADSL first, then apply to go on the trial).
