Sounds like the markings are BT or contractors seeing where the ducts are, probably to install the cross plant from the new FTTC cabinet to the old PCP which new connections are patched into?

I'm not sure that's the case Chris as the 2 cabs are literally 2 metres apart if that and the BT manhole is probably less than 2ft in front of the PCP.

That could explain the markings on the road though I suppose.

It's to do the fibre work to the dslam cabinet

That explains it then - thanks Ribble. You wouldn't happen to know when they're going to be doing this? I only ask as it's practically outside a friend's house and he's got a new born baby that he'd like to take out to avoid the noise!

They have now dug another hole about 5m from the PCP and about 10m from the new Fibre cab. Not sure what that could be for?

The hole is right next to a smallish, white, plastic looking box which is at ground level.
