Not at present, that's why I said
If you think Infinity 1 or Infinity 2 speeds will be satisfactory, ...

I wouldn't bother. I used to have symmetrical gigabit FTTP thru hyperoptic but downgraded it to the 100mbit even though it is only £10/month cheaper.

There's very very few websites that can reliably supply >80mbit. My USB hard drive couldn't write quick enough to disk too, so I had to artificially limit the speed of bittorrent etc otherwise it would take an age with the disk cache being overloaded. Not to mention that unless you're right next to the router you'll have trouble actually pushing >80mbit/sec real world speed through wireless.

Not sure I agree with that. I'm not with any BT variant but I regularly download torrents at 18MB sec that's close to the full 160Mb speed I can get on my connection. Recently I downloaded an iTunes update at 18MB sec too. Also I have my Superhub2 in modem-only mode and use an ASUS RT-N66U instead for routing. I get 160Mb / 12Mb speeds over wireless in the same room as the router.

Yup

I mean most good torrents can support way higher than 80Mbps

my box can pull 600Mbps down on a slow day

I would go for the 200mbps package at least.

But why? For the vast majority of people that would just be a waste of £15 a month.

Indeed. If you have no justification readily available for additional speed and need to ask others to justify it for you, this indicates you do not currently have an application for the higher speed.

I've got 80/20 FTTC that synchronises at maximum speed. The reason for choosing 80/20 is that the additional upload bandwidth over 40/10 is sometimes very useful, also the additional monthly cost on my ISP is a modest £3.

Most of the time the entire network here could operate perfectly happily on a 40/10 connection.

For most people that is probably right.

Exceptions would include large households with four or more simultaneous heavy user; torrent users and folk storing large files in the cloud or sending/receiving large files.

Torrents especially are better with high speeds. You know you can be in and out really quickly (1Gb in a minute or less)) This represents security for you and a limited period hogging network resources.

I'm sorry, but to my mind, £15 extra a month is a huge increase on what I pay now.
