Re: So close to FTTP but no biscuit.... Ideas?

Phone number hasn't gone active yet so can't use that.

Been using the address checker and it appears that the neighbouring properties haven't been FTTP enabled yet, however the plan appears to be that they will be in the next couple of months (http://www.superfastcornwall.org/) so we will wait until then and see if we get included or not.
In terms of new builds, a lot will depend on what the builder/developer did in terms of liasing with Openreach. If a builder just ignores the fibre issue, then you get the bare minimum legal coverage and will only get re-visited when there is slack in the system, which will be some years away given current priorities.

This is what worries me. Has anybody successfully lobbied BT to change their plans?

If your builder turned down an offer then possibly too late, the developer has a large part to play for new build, be they business or otherwise.

The Cornish project like others is run within a budget so to re-jig existing plans for you, suggests YOUR business is more important than many others, and with the wide availability of FTTP already there is a good question as to why the business did not locate in an existing area with FTTP live? A little harsh, but it is akin to renting office space in the 1990's and only having 3 car park spots for a dozen staff.

What will make the Cornish project or Openreach change their minds is cold hard cash.

The building we are moving into is 5 years old and the whole FTTC/FTTP wasn't a big thing then so I doubt that there was much if any consultation with BT done by the developer unfortunately.

The only way I think that we could get BT to upgrade us is via a business case for them. Our company by itself won't interest them at all. However, if we can get together with the majority of businesses that are in the same position as us then there is a chance I would have thought. i.e. if we say to BT, upgrade these buildings to FTTP and 80%(?) will take it up then this might be something that would interest them.

It might help, but they are well within their rights to say, we will look at you once we have finished the existing plans that are underway.

The only thing that moves you up the list is to throw money at it, in the exact same way as you can get business fibre services from people like CityFibre, Virgin Media and others.
