Presumably you don't usually have to blow in a new fibre. There are surely spares installed as the cost if installation is likely to be far higher than the actual fibre.

Depends in which section, but in most cases, yes, blow a new fibre. If one is broken, then highly likely the others are at least damaged.

I placed my initial FTTP order with BT Retail in May last year and am still awaiting install. The latest of many dates on various different order numbers is 19th January.

Hello Bright, and a Happy New Year to you ......

Was down yours just before Christmas, and no civil/ductwork done still I noticed.

Was doing the chap down in the corners place. 220 I seem to recall.

According to roadworks.org the duct work is scheduled for 15th - 19th January with my internal install on the afternoon of 19th January. That all seems a little tight to me but I will keep my fingers crossed.

Yes that doesn't quite hang together does it, that seems to have left no time for the 1st stage of pulling in the BFT and blowing the fibre to the external CSP does it......

Got me fingers crossed for you too.

Hi,

The failed connections are back on. An OR engineer who was attending the red light of death who WAS NOT authorised to look at the PON found that uplink fibre was kinked.

Other outages earlier were apparently due to Openreach doing a spot of rack rearrangement - which is nice.

Regards,

Gareth

Okay, even if I would've subscribed to the top tier it is perhaps for the best that Openreach, in their infinite wisdom, saw fit to throw money at delivering FTTC and copper here.
