EO line in a new development

Hi all,

I have been checking for a year or so fibre availability in my area. Just realised today that my flat has an exchange only line. This is a new development that was completed about a 1.5 ago with over 100 flats.

Just wondering if I can find out who made the decision, at the time when it was already established that these type of lines could not get fibre, to connect all properties directly to the exchange? And whether something can be done now to improve on this?

Also my speed dropped considerably in the last few months, only getting 3-5 Mbps at the moment (down from 17). Any suggestion why that might be?

On the speed drop statistics from the router i.e. http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/stats/routers.html then we can see whats up there.

On the flats depends a lot on what the developer did when liaising with BT, i.e. probably plumped for basic telephone only rather than worrying about broadband

As for improving, a lot depends on where you are located, i.e. which exchange and which BDUK project you fall under.

The connection speed is about 11Mbps. Are you testing wired or wireless to the router. You need to do a test wired if you are wireless. It could be that you are losing a lot through wireless clashing.

You should be syncing at about 18 Meg not 11. Even with what you are getting your throughput should be far higher than 5 Meg, even over WiFi.

But you are experiencing a load of errors:

It would be worth hard rebooting the router and keeping an eye on these error counts over time.
