Very true, but I think it's unlikely the address checker would say it was connected to a cabinet if it wasn't. I just checked telephone number vs address checker for my address and the results were absolutely identical.

It seems to be a database error on BT's DSL Checker page.
It says you can get FTTP on Demand

Address 1 WILLOW MEADOW, CHURCH STRETTON, SY6 6EH on Exchange CHURCH STRETTON is served by Cabinet 9

The checker also mentions "Fibre Multicast", without mentioning any individual FTTC speeds.

That is usually an indication that the property is connected to an FTTC cab, but that it is too far to receive service (probably beyond 2km).

Interestingly, Google maps knows where "SY6 6EL" is located, as it zooms in close. However, using "SY6 6EH" causes it to zoom out, and show the whole "SY6" area. It just doesn't understand that postcode. Same for Bing.

When I look at Google maps, I can't see "Willow Meadow" (either map or satellite), but on Bing maps, it looks like it could be a new build at the end of Lawley close.

I wonder if this is such a new build that no-one has lived there before? The postcode is too new?

In this case, perhaps the BT database has taken default/wrong location information about the postcode, and used the latitude/longitude to estimate the distance from the cabinet ... and concluded that it is just too far.

yes its a new build and its not on google map yet . any idea what happens now then ? am i best to wait till my phone line is in the new place then look again ..

It is also not a postcode with a lat lng in the OS database from during 2014, so Google and plenty of other places won't understand it for a while.

As its a new postcode then solution is to get the telephone line installed and take it from there and order based the telephone number.

cheers , last night i put in for the address swap with bt . waiting for a call with a date.
cant belive im going back to adsl upto 9mb . gutted just home its not for long . .i think i best let the housing know they are giving people the wrong postcode aswell ..

It may NOT be the wrong postcode at all, but a new postcode that has been assigned and once everyone picks up the Royal Mail database will eventually filter down.

so the postoffice postcode checker might be wrong ? if u type the address in it comes up with sy66eh and not sy66el the post code we have been given from the housing.
