Oh wow, now I feel really blonde... I walk past that at least 3 or 4 times a week, and I've never really noticed it. I must remember to pull my head out of the clouds sometime, lol. You're probably going to get a top notch speed given how close you are to that. smile

I know from my place, to the pole, and then the nearest underground chamber, etc, I am probably about 600m away from ours, line length wise. Straight line distance is about 400m, but it detours slightly if you follow the wires, so...
Even then though, I know it will be far better than what we can currently get, because I am more interested in the increased upload speeds. smile

If i remember rightly you're current sync rate was really high - meaning you're going to get a fantastic connection rate on fibre. I'm probably around 150 meters away cable length wise and I'm right between cab 3 and cab 1 distance wise. I can't remember where cab 2 is - maybe in the square.

Yeah, I do have a good sync rate for the ADSL, I don't know how it will work out with fibre though.

My current stats are: Down  20761Kbps / Up 1215Kbps

It's the upload that's the biggest issue for me. Some days I end up needing to transfer a large number of GB's worth of .psd files, and other bits, and it's actually easier to go to the post office and mail off a memory stick via Special Delivery than it is to do the transfers, especially with my son being an avid gamer.
I frequently get complaints of "You're killing my ping times..."
At least with a higher upload capacity, we could both be happy, my uploads would be fast, and I'd be able to leave him enough capacity to get good latency to whichever servers he's currently connected to. smile

Praying that he doesn't have to be part of the team that sorts out Torrington? wink

I see we have the roadworks near the exchange listed again, this time scheduled for 23rd to 25th March... "Cable provision in existing duct to provide service. POSSIBLE excavations IF duct blockages encountered. Night working with rolling traffic lights."

Hopefully they manage to sort it this time.

I don't know if it's going to be one of the final steps for ours or not, but another roadwork of possible interest:

14 Apr - 27 Apr

Location: B3232 370m south of jcn New Kennacott
Description: Access to carriageway box to effect fibre spine joint.

That's a little south of Newton Tracey, so it's entirely possible that we might be part of the same link up; I dunno for sure though, I'm just taking a guess. smile

And now I shall weep, lol... I had my fridge freezer fail earlier this week, and have had that much expense over the last few, that I will have to wait another week before I can afford to activate my connection.

That chap who goes by the name of s*d must have known, lol. laugh

It's good to see though. smile

https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm?xid=8...

That shows the full list of postcodes served by Cab 3, it covers a huge area, but it's from the top of Mill Street downwards primarily (with a couple of minor exceptions), although they extend outwards as far as Tadiport and Little Torrington.

Edit... Grrr, I'm not sure why, but the link from that site keeps failing, but if you search the exchange on that site, you can list all the cabinets connected to it, and see that P3 serves a huge area, lol.

I'm not sure if it's a site thing that causes the link to fail, or if it's my blonde streak shining through...
