If you have the MKII or MKIII VDSL/ADSL filter faceplate there is nothing stopping you from installing a data extension onto the 2 pin IDC connector to where you want the router/modem to be placed.
I have done this with out ADSL2+ connection, I used CAT5e cable due to having reels of that laying around.

Something that I should have used a while ago before routed cable to get to the socket. I could probably still do it. Food for thought.

Just be careful not to disturb any wires connected to the phone face plate or you will loose all your phones, these IDC connectors are a nightmare when it has short wire connected to it and one pops off and then the second wire pops off when you try to insert the first wire LOL.

But if you remove the first faceplate i.e. the phone one lower it down carefully, you can use the cut out of the VDSL face plate to lower the wire through it without disturbing the wires, also to note you will be using the same cut out for your data extension cable so you need to be careful there too.

If you do have that problem, using jelly crimps to extend the wire a little can be useful.

Yep got loads of red 2 and 3 way gel filled crimps
BT did just that funny enough

Plus I have some reels of the same cable BT use internally, so it wouldn't be that much of an issue to replace the internal cable run if needed.

Does anyone know when Cabinet 8 is due to be updated? (Kingsmead) I type in the schools phone number and its accepting orders, and I read here that the cabinets that are currently enabled spread quite a way the other direction, I went onto a website where it showed a few other cabinets due to be updated but not number 8. Does anyone know how much of a job it is for the engineers/cable fitters to enable cabinets once the main town is enabled? Thanks!

When I type in my phone number on the superfast openreach, it says :

Exchange name: Torrington

Status: Enabled area

So I went onto the BT Wholesale ADSL Checker, to see which cabinet I am connected too, and I get the following:

Where did you get the information that Cabinet 8 was enabled? Also if it is enabled why can I not receive Fibre Speeds? Thanks

I use my Desktop Fibre Checker.
I can have it check every postcodes for a cabinet and return the speeds and type of broadband for it.
I am currently checking now and so far about 200 address can get fibre on your cabinet 8 and I am only halfway through.

I will update this post once its completed.

You may just not be lucky to get upgraded.
