In Suffolk there has been a lot of moving the locations of new DSLAMS and/or new PCPs. They will get built and powered up, and then a few weeks or months later roadworks will say "DEMOLISH AND REPLACE WITH.....", but then frustratingly you can't read any more on the roadworks.org description. I've seen one case where it seemed like a whole street was being re-wired, due to extensive groundworks and road closures, but then it seemed like both cabs remained where they'd been installed, although a massive re-wiring or ducting operation was necessary. There's another one going to be happening right near me so I could log and ask what happens; this being the 2nd brand new PCP and DSLAM for the EO arrangement for my town. Andrew's list confirmed that the first of the two cabs (on paper) went live I think two weeks ago. This is exactly the same thing, but the other side of the same car park, opposite the exchange.
I wonder if when things are very close to the exchange, they could have understandable physical space problems with huge volumes of cabling and existing ducting which was designed in the 60s (or before)? i.e., problems which won't be solved by simply creating one of two new footway boxes; indeed, things which involve the core exit/entrance cabling from the exchange?
