Certainly the previous owner has set it up in an unusual way. I wouldn't want it on my system till I'd cleaned it up.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync 57676/14040kbps @ 600m. - BQM

It is possible to set it up in a sort of half bridged mode where the HG612 can create the PPPOE session and passthrough an IP to a router.

Well the original owner says it wasn't unlocked and was just a stock BT device.

I can't even get it to take the SP08 firmware for some reason.
It won't reset and I can't get back into the menu.

I'll see if I can get it replaced as it does seem a little strange.

I suggest once you have removed it you run your standard antivirus full system scan, and following that the latest version of Malwarebytes.

Probably nothing to worry about, but I'm damn sure that what I would be doing.

Probably the anti-virus or firewall on your PC or ad blocker software on your browser
It won't reset and I can't get back into the menu.
Did you reset it then? Something must have happened to cause it to stop.

Which menu? You mean the web interface?

If you had it connected to the internet, it may be being upgraded by BTAgent.

I am using a Mac.. and don't have an ad blocker on the browser I was using.

But the reset button doesn't seem to work now..
I can't get into the Web interface (or TN either).

Didn't have it connected to the web to rule out the BTAgent issues.

I'll have to give it another try later..

So it just stopped allowing access on it's own? Odd.

Yes.. it seems that way... no matter how I tried to push the reset button it wouldn't let me see the Web interface on Lan 2. (I am assuming you are never able to see the interface on Lan 1).

I'd previously tried to upload the 08 firmware and that had let me get to the upload page, the modem then rebooted etc.. but then I couldn't get in again and also can't access it to try and flash the firmware again.

Very strange..

Sounds like you may have flashed it to the latest firmware

So what IP addresses have you tried?
