Openreach provides service providers at equivalence of inputs (same costs to all) -- FYI there are circa 530 + service providers which circa 90 - 100 offer FTTC which mean circa 450 only use copper

copper is cheaper where you have you own kit in exchange ie XX Copper will be cheaper to deploy than XX Fibre as you have llu kit in Exchange but would need to buy an Ethernet GEA product to facilitate XX Fibre

They would need to pay for another CableLink to the FTTP customer base, and then there are support costs, etc. As there are so few with FTTP available it's not really worth their while.

Aren't FTTC and FTTP the same thing at the exchange end - both are presented through the same GEA infrastructure? Why would the ISP need anything else on their side if they are already providing FTTC?

There aren't going to be more FTTP customers until they commit to using what infrastructure is already available. It would be worth their while as it would show commitment and avoid them being complete hypocrites. Presumably BT retail aren't providing Infinity 1 -4 on FTTP at a loss?

GEA-FTTP 40 Mbps and 80 Mbps are sold with same monthly fees as FTTC at the wholesale level. £99+VAT install as its an engineer install.

those guys make more margin on copper (Esp LLU copper) rather than Fibre that involves bying cable link and Ethernet GEA

My point is if they've already bought the Cablelink GEA why make a distiction between FTTC and FTTP. Yes, their support cost might be higher for FTTP (have a small team who handle FTTP issues - even Plusnet manage this) and a longer more difficult provisioning process to manage but unless they do this they have no credibility in any criticism of Openreach and it's investment in future infrastructure.

I think the provisioning process is the biggest issue. Even now openreach dosnt have fluid end to end FTTP installation processs, and its probably the extra cost of chasing up orders that puts many ISPs off providing it
