Re: Problems with Bt wholesale/Openreach

Like Pauli1, I had a similar issue with records - where the post-order survey created a new record for my property, but held the wrong cabinet id. That allowed fibre orders to be placed, but the engineer would find it impossible to action whenever they turned up.

It took Plusnet around 3 months to sort out, and definitely needed complicated coordination between BTW and Openreach.

One of the final triggers to clearing the logjam was when an Openreach engineer was tasked with a "pair prove" - to just verify the actual connection points in the MDF, PCP and DP.

Thanks to everyone for their support and stories!

Short story :

there was a records error as you guys predicted. My my phoneline now shows up as fibre available (yay!)

Long story: I contacted Zen (my ISP) and said this needed to be escalated to management. I said forget Openreach's process and go Zen management to Openreach management. I also said if they have not solved it within 5 working days I'm going elsewhere.

On the same day I contacted my local council project (cswbroadband.org.UK) who look after the fibre rollout in my county and are working with Openreach. They also acknowledged the strangeness and said they would contact openreach on my behalf.

I also on the same day asked Openreach the same Question on their online form.

So the day after all this (yesterday) I get contacted by Zen, the local projects team and Openreach within the same hour. They all said it was a database error and it is now fixed. They all claimed it was them who sorted it!

Anyway I now have a confirmed install date for fibre. Looks like shouting from multiple angles worked this time.

Reading some of your stories, I can't help but wonder why something so simple and fundamental can cause such a problem!

I'll update you all with my speeds once I'm all connected.

You could set up in business as an "Openreach Connectivity Consultant" smile.

Such rapid resolution of that sort of problem is unheard of!

Well done, and good luck smile.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
