10dB attenuation on ADSL2+ is not the same as 10dB attenuation on VDSL2 though. The attenuation on VDSL2 will be higher, because higher frequencies are used which attenuate more quickly with distance.

I know that but wasn't the OP talking about his ADSL2+ stats? If so, with att of 10db (roughly 700m from exchange) he's likely to get a lot higher than 35meg when on FTTC as the fibre twin obviously has to be close to the PCP. My attenuation before moving to fibre was 34. I'm sync'd at 68Mbps and very stable with a new attenuation of 9.

It's 10db to the exchange, not the cab and not sure if the ADSL/VDSL measurements are the same, but may depend where the cab is located relative to exchange/end user

OOps didn't notice I'd put CAB instead of exchange :0

Thanks for pointing that out Ribble. I've edited my previous post now.

Well FTTC is now available but as I suspect speeds will not be much of an improvement and may well be worse than the ADSL2 speed I now get

FTTC Range A (Clean) 28 - 19.7

FTTC Range B (Impacted) 22.2 - 10.5

That's a shame. Looks like the cable follows the road then. Prolly not a surprise. I know there used to be a gasometer where the school now is but don't know what used to be under Asda. Presumably more industrial 'stuff' so following the road must've been the only option :-/

where ASDA is was the original site of the school although there was a foot path that went through the site between the school and the playing fields.
The main buildings of the school is were the ASDA building is now and the playing fields are where the ASDA car park is.

All I can hope now is that FTTP on demand reappears or that the new VDSL G.fast arrives
