Had the same problem here twice,no phone and drastic slow down in speeds.
Had to ring Sky to get Openreach out,had a bad connection on a joint first, then a couple of weeks later a break in the line.
Must have been that way for ages as in the 2 years ive had fibre it's now running the quickest it ever has.
Connected at 25536/4996, not fantastic but we are just over half a mile from the cab.

I'm sitting here waiting for my OR engineer smile
I'm hoping, once fixed the line will be better than before...

UPDATE: That didn't go very well.
The OR Engineer tried his best but hasn't been able to fix things. He believes my problem is where the line goes underground and he's only able to work on the overhead part of my connection. So another engineer will be required.

10 days so far with no land line and half-speed internet... frown

The /I revision of the ECI modem is obsolete by several years, and achieves inferior performance to the more recent /r models of ECI modems. The reference board design was completely redesigned for the /r revision.

The digital signal processing capabilities of the Lantiq VRX268 System-On-Chip (SOC) found in the ECIs has undergone improvement over those modem hardware revisions, and that is reflected in max sync rate achieved, error rates, SNR, and so on.

If you like the Lantiq and (unusually) it works better on your line than a Broadcom-based device then maybe source an ECI /r.
