Has the council explicitly said superfast for everyone in the area?

Announcements are not normally worded in that way, so it may be careful wording by them that you have then being over optimistic on.

No one has said vdsl2 cabinets will deliver superfast to everyone, there are cabinets wherevthis does happen but others where it does not

To be honest, it is confusing what the council do promise! This is the site:

http://www.superfastleicestershire.org.uk/

"The county councils overarching vision is to ensure that all premises can access superfast speeds by 2018."

Note that that statement reads 2018 and we are currently still in 2015. Who knows what will have happened by the end of 2018 which is over 39 months away.

My postcode when entered onto that maps states "Superfast broadband expected to become available in parts of this area by spring 2016" now as my postcode covers at most 4 premises and all are 1.5 miles from the cab!

Key word being PARTS rather than all

Im confused as my postcode only covers 4 premises, all 1.5 miles away from the cab and use the same cable into the village as the rest of the properties do. If 1 premise can get it, then the whole postcode should. The DP that covers my postcode's 4 properties is outside my bedroom window, next to where the villages 100 lines comes up in the manhole in the pavement before the rest of the lines then continue underground to other DP's dotted around the village.

Depends on their definition of area too. Checkers from projects often judt look at a cab area as a single point.

Ive asked the Leicestershire Broadband Project manager to review this thread and provide any feedback. This is the interesting response.

Hello Sam

Thank you for sharing this. I have reviewed your correspondence and make the following observations

Most importantly it has highlighted an error that has crept into our interactive mapping!!

- I note that Shackerstone is currently shaded blue and part of the fibre build to be deployed by the end of March 2016. This is incorrect. We have corresponded previously regarding deployment in S. Nothing has changed from our previous correspondence (see last e-mail of 10th June 2015). In this I confirm that expect fibre deployment to S as part of our Superfast Extension Programme contract with BT, subject to a survey of Openreach infrastructure. Currently we expect deployment to S between summer 2016 and end 2017. We cannot specify the timetable until BT has undertaken detailed planning. We do not have the information to confirm what speeds premises will be able to achieve. Also, we cannot fully determine how BT will deploy locally. We do expect more existing PCPs to be deployed with FTTC. This could include Twycross 2. I understand you think you are too far away to benefit from an uplift. The following, for example may happen. 1) BT may deploy and additional structure closer to your prem, 2) Vectoring may boost speeds over longer distances. It is all too early to determine at this stage, sorry.

- To reconfirm. There is an error on the Interactive Map. We have promptly taken this down and will amending it. I believe a number of areas are affected in the way we have represented deployment in their area. We believe that areas may be eligible for a subsidy to deliver the 100% Universal Service were incorrectly attributed as part of the fibre broadband deployment. Gov~t is piloting a scheme to be launched this Dec. We need to consider how to deliver locally.

- Shakerstone should be shaded vivid yellow

- All local authorities have access to postcode information outlining the expected fibre build. Unfortunately, some BT infrastructure does not 100% align to postcodes. We have to make a call on how we present the info we have. It is not perfect and we provide caveats on the Interactive Map. It does, however, llustrate the nature of the rollout.

Many apologies for the confusion caused. Happy to discuss further directly with you

Hope this helps

There is wiggle room and this why fibre availbility figures are higher than superfast availability
