In reply to a post by mlmclaren:
So I was wrong to think the cards actually supply capacity from the E side and its actually that the cards allow for more lines to be connected, that being said what is the total backhaul availability or capabilities if you know?

In reply to a post by Ignitionnet:
Just FYI the big Huawei has 2 slots for upstream interface boards and 4 x 1Gb ports on each board.

EDIT: Forgot, it also has 4 x 1Gb ports on the control board as well.

In reply to a post by mlmclaren:
If there where any capacity issues, would they be on the equipment in the exchange and which equipment, would it be the equipment serving the DSLAMs or the backhaul; for each individual CP?

Backhaul. Either Cablelink between Openreach and CP or further down CP's network.

That FTTC certainly looks under-provisioned, having only one Filter/Link in it, with a potential of 288, at the top-left of that back-plane!

Not likely to run out of ports I'd guess!

Just thought, say OR added them one at a time, a year or so apart, as seems to be the case for the batches of 48.

Any idea why the 25th in each group is not used, at the right-hand end of each orange row?

Probably because they are 48 port cards.
The filters are added in bulk to match card capacity

Thanks, Ribble.

The discrepancy of two, 48 to 50, seems strange, if it is not a technical requirement.

For example, could the 25th port on each group be a Test Socket?

Not used. Just to keep the ties pairs matched to the ports

Thanks again Ribble.

That would seem to agree then with the BT OR Technician doing "my" FTTC in March 2014, saying that he was putting in a "100 pair Link".

It also suggests that another such multi-pair link would have to be added as well as 48 or 96 Filter/Links, to allow further upgrades when the present 96 are used up, possibly leading to further delays, because of the number of actual wire connections to be made in the FTTC.

Seems to be about 1 day's work, on top of the relatively few minutes to inserting the Filter/Links.
