Pretty sure that's the cabinet location

Fibre cabinets never have their number on them, can usually visually link to the copper cab by the new tarmac, but its possible this is an all in one has its TPON conversion area.

It's not a fibre cabinet, looks quite old: Google maps steetview

That's a grey TPON cabinet with a new green copper cabinet next door, is the actual situation on the street identical now, or is there another green cabinet with some air vents in it now (have to ask as picture is three years old)?

That's the situation now, no new fibre cabinet within 100 meters that I can find.

Thanks for the info, do you have insider info to locate all of these ? smile

Not being up on telecoms hardware. DSLAM, is for ADSL only and has no relation to fiber ?

The fiber cabinet will connect to the DSLAM in the current copper cabinet ?

The DSLAM is what is housed in the FTTC cabinet. It takes the fibre-optic link from an exchange, converts it to VDSL2 and merges it onto the phone line, returning the result to the phone cabinet and onward to your place. And vice versa for the other direction.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. Sync 59999/14372kbps @ 600m. - BQM

Thanks RobertoS. Going on what PaulK put a few posts up that 147 has a DSLAM, does that imply fiber based on your description or am I just being hopeful ?

Nope smile

If I am looking for a fibre cabinet I do fast checking that gets a list of postcodes for a certain cabinet and check the list of addresses for the word DSLAM (LOL, yes its rather crude, but its works most of the time) and then flag that in my console.

If that fails to return anything I then check 1 address that is listed for a certain cabinet and make a note of the speeds and if 80->80 there your near a fibre cabinet smile

And once I have a postcode that has a either a DSLAM listed or addresses with 80 -> 80 I put those postcodes into Google Maps and go looking, most of the time its near or on a main road.
