Re: FTTP on demand available for me!

On the trial signup page, it states the following:

Plusnet Unlimited Fibre Extra up to 76Mbps - £19.99 per month

Setup charge - free
Speed - up to 76Mbps down, up to 19.5Mbps up
Contract - no change to your existing contract period
Usage - Unlimited
Router - free 3 port wireless

This product is the same as our FTTC Unlimited Fibre product only with FTTP.

Note the free setup. But as I said above, it seems that this is only for FTTP enabled cabs, not mine which is showing FTTPod available. This is where the CD rep messed up so I'll just wait to see what they come back with.

An OR engineer told me a few weeks ago that there is an upcoming trial that Tenby may be involved in and that I sign up to via my ISP so time will tell. The way Plusnet staff are going mind you, they'll probably be the last to know about any trials wink

I believe the product you are linking to is for FTTP sites, FoD is a different beast altogether.

Yeah I realised that after filling out the application for the trial. BUT that was the link the Plusnet reps gave me after discussing it with them. You think they'd know better.

Plusnet used to have a small team who did the FTTP stuff for them, but I've not spoken with them for some time, so am unsure if they still exist. You'd have hoped that if they are still there, they would understand the product in all it guises and at least prepare a brief for the CS star to refer to when questioned.

Quite! As you are in an FTTC area filing in forms to go on the Plusnet FTTP trial isn't going to get any results.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

They still have the team as far as i'm aware, but I think it's only 2 or 3 people, which would explain the up to 2 week wait before they even place an order with Openreach.

It is wait and see time, rather than feed rumour machine

I'm not sure I was feeding a rumour machine exactly ... just making a reference back to the news articles earlier this summer. Such as the update at the end of this one:

They still have the team. I had a reply from them yesterday afternoon. They confirmed they do not currently offer FTTPoD but are in the process of reviewing this to see if it's financially viable based on interest shown.

Appearing as an option on the checker is not proof of it being available to order, plenty of addresses where is has been available for the many months orders were on hold.

Have pestered the right people on a Saturday to find out more.
