Re: New FTTC Plusnet Broadband installation - speed question

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Key line is IP Profile for your line is - 38.71 Mbps which shows that you are connecting almost at the maximum speed for the 40/2 product you are on.

So any difference between that speed and speed tests is down to factors like wireless, slow PC, congestion and a myriad of other factors.

What does PlusNet report as your current line speed?

https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer...

This should be set automatically to match (approximately) your IP profile, but if it's lower then it will limit your throughput. Sometimes it gets out-of-sync, and the solution is to ask a PlusNet rep to manually reset it.

For lots of examples, search for 'stuck profile' on http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php. Posting there seems to be the quickest path to resolution.

A speed test is not what was sought, but what the IP Profile that PlusNet has configured against the account says.

Ah sorry Doug/Andrew
Is this it?

"You can see your current IP Profile at High Speed Broadband (shown as Current Line Speed ) in My Account or by running a BT Speedtest."

Telephone number:
0145825xxxx
Phone exchange:
LANGPORT
Estimated line speed:
40Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2015-09-14 22:02:21
Current line speed:
21 Mb

Yeap that's it should be

IP Profile for your line is - 38.71 Mbps or very close to that.

The 21 Mbps setting is limiting you, and you said in another post time to report a stuck profile.

Plusnet rep reset line speed from their end to 37Mbps a couple of hours ago.

Phone exchange
LANGPORT
Estimated line speed:
40Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2015-09-14 22:02:21
Current line speed:
37 Mb

I guess there can be a delay before this will make any difference as it is currently testing at 20Mbps ??

Not sure if there should be any delay at all, needs a PlusNet user to say what they've experienced and cannot recall people saying it took X hours after it got reset.

Should be no delay.

It may require a PPP disconnect/reconnect to get the new value used though.
