FTTC Availability

I understand that FTTC isn't available for a primary school, but i'm trying to find out which cabinet it is connected too and any information on when it will be enabled.

Are there any sites, that can help with this extra info?

This number appears to be an EO line so no FTTC unless/until BT carry out a network rearrangement.

That is EO. Are there any other numbers in use at the school? What do they say?

Ask BT if they will run in a line from an enabled cabinet Cabinet 1 has FTTC availability - however, is it close enough? and Cab 12 is planned.

With 16Mbps ADSL available you could always look at enabling the fax line too or another line in the school.

How do i find out where the cabs are in relation to the school?

The school is on an exchange only line, but if a phone line via cabinet 1 could be arranged then faster than ADSL2+ speeds are possible.

For now the simplest solution would be either

1. Multiple lines e.g. one for WiFi and a different one for Ethernet devices/video streaming in classes
2. Multiple lines and a provider that can bond them to give you higher speeds

Don't schools these days have leased lines for broadband? Nothing to do with the PSTN?

Unfortunately for the size of school, multiple lines wouldn't really work due to cost. Nor would a leased line as we would be looking at around £5500 for a 30/100mb connection.

Just checked there fax line and thats also a EO line.

Very rare for a primary school to have a leased line due to the cost, majority of secondary schools will have a leased line.

Before FTTC and EoFTTC were around primaries were on a leased line of either 2 or 4mb, later this was increased to 10mb. Costs for this were around £6-7k at the time.

That sum is just not affordable any more hence why the majority of primary schools are now on FTTC or EoFTTC.

So its see if a phone line can be arranged from the cab 1 area, nearest road was mentioned. Paying for network rearrangement would be too costly I suspect particularly if not willing to add a second ADSL2+ line to double speeds.
