Yeah, that's Huawei. A quick fix is to front end the HH5 with a Huawei HG612 v3B from the bay of fleas.

They are good at what they do - works out of the box, fast wireless, supports BT TV, supports dynamic DNS, no problems with port-forwarding, basic line stats.

But you can't change DNS, locked to BT, no error stats.

I would say a good basic router but no good if you expect any more than basic.
I totally agree, I haven't had that much of an issue apart from that one heat issue which was fixed by a factory reset, only gripe is the 14 day reboot and that lack of stats, I keep thinking about swapping over to our FRITZ!Box 3390 and keep this HH4 for when we have issues and need to do some tests.

Apart from that its not that bad, we have had a lot worse LOL

Look in your HH5 Event Logs and select Category System.

Do you see something like the following:
08:46:10, 11 Oct. (1273025.360000) The system is going DOWN for reboot.
08:46:10, 11 Oct. (1273025.360000) OpenRG is going for reboot by IPC command
08:46:05, 11 Oct. (1273020.360000) OpenRG will go down for reboot in 5 seconds
If so its the 14 day Internal Procedure Call (IPC) where the entire HH is rebooted.

I forgot to mention we got around the BT DNS issue by setting up a 15 to 20W PC running as a DHCP Server screwed to the back of an old LCD Monitor.

We just set it up with the DNS Server(s) we want to use, and we can force certain IP Addresses to certain devices via its MAC, very nice indeed smile

I meant on the HH5. You can try setting the DNS server on the device, but BT have a habit of intercepting that smile
