The 843m is coming directly from codelook, but it does seem a bit long for 'as the crow flies'. I reckon a good shot putter could throw a stone from my back garden to it!

Not the easiest to check stats due to my setup, but I think when I first checked the stats were pretty good.

(I have my network gear in the attic, a pfsense box with a zyxel modem bridged to it, so I don't have ready access to the modems web interface. I think I need to disconnect the modem from the pfsense box and connect a laptop directly to it to hit the web interface)

My modem is connected like that too, but the modem stats are available because I have a 2nd ethernet connection from the modem to the LAN.

Your attenuation will give a very good indication of your line length to the exchange.

Unfortunately my modem only has a single port!

I'm at work now, and very busy at nights this week, so I doubt I'll get a chance to check the stats very soon.

That's one of the reasons I recommend the Huawei HG612 v3B which is an excellent 2-port modem easily available from fleabay.

Just looked it up on ebay, and that is a VDSL modem.

Unless it is backwards compatible with ADSL, it is currently no use to me.

I'll probably get one if/when I can get FTTC.

Yes, it's backwards compatible. Note, it has to be unlocked to be of any use to you
