Already established cab 2 isn't in any plans

We are cabinet 3 so although it will be frustrating for the cabinet 2 people I'm concentrating on ours at the moment.
Oddly I have just had a conversation with the local Superfast Staffs people completely out of the blue they have just told me that now the problem is power. The cabinet has been installed since August 2014 but apparently in al that time they haven't managed to get power to it !
That is separate to all of the issues getting the cable to the cabinet, so even if the cable did get there tomorrow it wouldn't be able to be commissioned.
It is a complete nonsense that in over 15 months they haven't thought about sorting out power.

Already established cab 2 isn't in any plans Ah, ok, my bad, I should of read more posts further back in the topic
So yeah, cabinets 1, 3, 4, 5 should be done around the same time, if not cabinet 5 should be soon after.
It all depends on if all cabinets in question are all completed and are in fact just waiting for the exchange or the link to it to be completed.
So I guess all the people on those cabinets will be having a rather nice Christmas or new year

But yeah, August 2014 sounds about right, but cabinets can sit there for years before they are completed, could be power issues, fibre routing issues, planning issues, and even communities complaining on where its placed and so on.
But if ribble says over the next few weeks, then its possibly the next few weeks.

I know what you mean about laughing and crazy at the same time.
The biggest issue for me is the lack of transparency about what is happening, things may be happening behind the veil of Openreach but to us mere mortals on the outside we have no idea what is going on.
Thanks for all the replies, fingers crossed and all that, but I fully expect this to drag on for a few months yet.

Hi,
I'd be really grateful for any info regarding AYR Exchange, Cabinet 8, postcode KA7 3BZ.
ADSL checker has been showing a date when gets amended just as its due (and has done so for the past 2 and a half years). The cabinet has been in place for about ten months, and cabling work completed, so its very frustrating.
Thanks

Thanks That's what happens when you under a commercial project, your project was originally due to be done 2012 to 2013, sadly commercial projects are being delayed in favour of BDUK projects due to they have contractual deadline dates where they have to be done by, whereas commercial one do not.
I have taken a quick look and I can see that your cabinet is at stage 6 of 8 so I am guessing they are still connecting stuff up and I give assuming the dates that openreach used to send is the same, so I give it approx. 4 months if nothing goes wrong.
Now looking at the BT Wholesale site, they are saying 31 march 2016 and so is a couple other sites, which also tallies up with the date I said, so I say maybe that date is correct.
Also BT Wholesale are saying the following:
FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- We are in ongoing discussion with the relevant authority about the location of your cabinet
TBH I think your rollout for fibre on your exchange is rather good, I know over half/ to two thirds of the lines on our exchange still don't have fibre and we have been waiting +4 years now, and we have had all the fibre hardware in the chambers and up the phone pole since end of 2011.
At the moment you get an ok'ish speeds that should be ok for now.

Thanks Paul for the quick and comprehensive reply.
Its very frustrating to have the date knocked back just as it appears that it will go 'live' but if you think that we're doing well on this exchange (and we do have a fairly decent Broadband speed) then I should count my blessings.
Fingers crossed for the end of March.
Thanks again.

It is a complete nonsense that in over 15 months they haven't thought about sorting out power.
You'd think, after doing 70,000 cabinets that they'd realise power was needed, wouldn't you? Or perhaps they do, and there's a different power-related reason.
It turns out it just isn't as simple as putting in a wire. Unfortunately, the pesky power distribution companies insist on making sure the distribution cable can handle the total maximum power (100A per house, etc), and make sure the local infrastructure - transformers and the like - can handle the extra power too.
If the power infrastructure can't handle it, then "you" (whoever orders the connection that takes it over the limit) must pay for the entirety of the upgrade. It normally costs £1,000 for a new connection to the electricity supply, but the increases can be astronomical - and even make the cabinet non-viable. Better for BT to just wait, and let someone else foot the bill as part of their connection.
I read of one restaurant that was being updated. One new supply ... a £54,000 bill.
Three cabinets were held up in Skipton because of power - the bill there was £90,000
http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/4296183-super...
In the end, they were only upgraded as a "penalty" imposed by the council when the main phase 1 project ran a couple of months late.

Turns out that Openreach knew about the power issue in March this year, but someone forgot to fill in the right forms to get permission from the three people where the power cable is going to be routed across their land.
I have managed to speak to someone in BT (not Or), as the local project have really just given up and can't progress it any further themselves, BT appear to be quite embarrassed that this has happened.
The local project and BT have said it is going to hurt their monthly delivery targets as they haven't got enough people going live in Nov / Dec to fulfil the contract terms, and were relying on our village being connected this month.
Still if they get their act together it might still be possible I suppose, but I won't hold my breath.
