Yeah, well I think cabinet 66 caters for 220 addresses which some addresses may have more than one line.

250 to 300 lines is still enough, I have seen BT in two occasions upgrade just 1 address on a cabinet to FTTP leaving the rest on ADSLx just so that they can complete a postcode.
Also cabinet 12 the last time I checked had only 34 out of 360 lines with FTTP leaving 314 with ADSLx and 12 with no BB.

The stall is down to all the BDUK work and not due to you only having 250 to 300 lines, that's enough, however saying that it could be down to you not having a phone pole and having all phone cables under ground which was why I was saying you might get downgraded to FTTC for simplicity.

Thanks for the replies, about what I expected laugh Just glad theres some progress being made, hope I go live this decade lol
LOL, we have been waiting for 4 years for our FTTP hardware that was installed 4 years ago to go live.

So, good luck.

Paul

My FTTP hardware (cables/splitters etc) has also been completed for a fair while but with no plans to sort out the cabinet etc. You'd think the economics of it would mean they would either get it done or not do it at all. Half and half seems like a waste of time and money. Although I guess someone is making money out of it..

I thought that but a poster in this forum told me that you still need the cabinet upgraded. Cable from exchange to cabinet and fibre from cabinet to property. I don't know what to believe now. If I don't need the cabinet upgrading then why do we have to wait..

FTTP doesn't come from the cabinet. I doubt anybody said it does.

Please can you try to find that post and give us a link so we can advise them differently?

Although FTTP and FTTC availability is determined by cabinet in nearly all cases, no fibre cabinet is installed for FTTP and the provision is from an aggregation point, usually in a pavement chamber.

For FTTC, as you know, an FTTC cabinet has to be physically connected to the phone cabinet. On FTTP the fibre that comes to the premises does not pick up a phone signal from the PCP (phone cabinet). The phone either continues independently as is from the PCP or is replaced by a form of VOIP through the fibre.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

Things have been mving along here, had some ducting put in under the roads in the past few weeks, and the BT checker now says "Your area is currently in our plans to be upgraded with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), however we follow a different design and build process for FTTP so you won't see updates at each stage. When you are able to place orders you will see the Accepting Orders message. In some instances our FTTP plans change." Went for a walk today and saw this BT SPRAY PAINT, was wondering if anyone had any idea what it meant? Thanks

That is the identifying number of a splitter node So it is either planned to be in that existing JF6 box, or is maybe there already ?

So promising stuff.
