How would they buy it off BT?

How would they raise money to install any more?

Kindness isn't going to cure the world of all its awfulness but it's a good place to begin. Daisy Ridley.

In reply to a post by Bob_s2:
This is why Openreach needs to be separated away from the main BT group. If you do that Openreach becomes a totally separate company although it can be owned still by BT . It would be a bit like DABS which is a BT company

If Openreach is set up as a separate company it has its own board and separate P&L and would file separate accounts at Companies house. The Fibre then becomes Openreaches and not BT's. BT would be treated as an external company the same as any other ISP or telco

Ever get boring saying the same stuff over and over again without any kind of explanation of why it would change anything?

This issue is down to Openreach's and would persist whether they were a part of the Group or not.

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
One issue is that the final drops are only done when people order, wonder what the general population answer would be to Openreach doing the final drop to a whole street at the same time. Even if the public like the idea some providers may object as people might believe that the only provider is then BT themselves.

This member of the general population is beginning to realise why Openreach were so reluctant to deploy further FTTP.

If the discussions in this thread are any guide to the immense ineptitude of the rollout I can see why there were problems.

Wrong product deployed to the wrong areas in the wrong way.

No-one in the general population I imagine cares about Openreach deploying drops to the entire street. The same probably can't be said for Sky and the well-lobbied staff at Ofcom.

I like the Gigaclear approach were they site a pot on the boundary of your property. You can then connect to it if you want to. The cables are underground, tidier and it avoids the problem of trees.
